Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 27, 2026
Summary: We collect what we need to run your digital wardrobe: your email, name, style choices and photos of your clothes. We do not use your location. We do not sell your data, show ads or share your photos with other users. You can delete your account and your photos at any time in the app. Full details below.
This Privacy Policy explains how Mocknira ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, stores and protects your information when you use the Mocknira mobile app and the mocknira.com website (together, the "Service"). It is part of our Terms and Conditions.
1. Information you give us
Account details
- Your email address, used to sign you in with one-time codes
- Your first name and, if you add it, your last name
- Your clothing style (menswear or womenswear). This is a clothing preference, not your gender identity. We use it to choose example outfits and which types of clothes to show you
- Optional details you add in your profile: date of birth, country and a profile photo
Your style
The styles and occasions you choose (for example Casual or Office), so outfit suggestions match how you dress.
Photos of your clothes
When you add items to your wardrobe, we store the photo you took and the cut-out images of each item made from it. We also store the details of each item, such as category, colour and any changes you make to them.
"Before you buy" photos
When you check an item before buying it, the photo or screenshot is sent to our servers to be read and compared with your wardrobe. We do not save this photo. It is discarded as soon as the result is ready.
Launch emails
If you ask on mocknira.com to hear when the app is out, we keep your email address, which phone you use (Android or iPhone) and when you asked. You do not need an account for this.
Messages to us
If you email [email protected], we keep the email and our reply so we can help you.
2. Information collected when you use the Service
- How you use your wardrobe: outfits you wear or swap, items in the laundry, and the milestones you reach. This powers your history and insights.
- Activity times: when you open and use the app, so we can understand how much the Service is used.
- Usage counts: how many times you use features that have limits, such as outfit swaps and "Before you buy" checks.
- Crash reports: if the app crashes or hits an error, it sends a report with the error, your device model and operating system, the app version, the screens you visited just before, and your account number. Crash reports never include your email, name or photos.
- Website errors: if mocknira.com hits an error, it sends a report with the error, your browser and device, the page you were on, and your IP address.
- Server logs: when the app talks to our servers, they record your IP address and basic request details. We use these to keep the Service secure and to fix errors on our side.
- Time zone and language: when you sign up, the app sends your phone's time zone and language setting so we can guess your country. You can change it in your profile.
We do not currently use analytics, advertising or tracking tools. If we add product analytics, we will update this policy before it starts.
3. Phone permissions
- Camera: to photograph your clothes and items you are thinking of buying.
- Photos: only the photos you pick, for example a screenshot for "Before you buy" or a profile photo. We never scan your photo library.
- Notifications: for reminders such as your daily outfit. These are scheduled on your phone.
Every permission is optional and can be changed in your phone's settings. Some features will not work without them.
4. How we use your information
- To create your account and sign you in
- To cut out, tag and store your items, and to build outfit suggestions and "Before you buy" results
- To show your history, laundry and insights
- To manage your plan, Pro subscription and usage limits
- To find and fix crashes and errors
- To answer your support messages
- To email you once when the app is out on your phone, if you asked us to on the website
- To keep the Service secure and prevent abuse, for example by limiting sign-in attempts, and by giving each email address only one free trial of Pro
- To send you emails needed for the Service, such as sign-in codes and important changes to these policies
We do not sell your information. We do not use it for advertising. We do not show your photos or wardrobe to other users.
5. Automatic processing of your photos
Items are cut out of your photos on your phone. To tag each item (for example its category and colour), we send the item image to an artificial intelligence model run by our cloud provider, DigitalOcean. The model returns the tags and we store them with your item. The same happens for "Before you buy" photos, which we then discard.
These tags and suggestions are made automatically and do not have any legal or similar effect on you. You can change any tag in the app.
6. Companies that help us run the Service
We share information with these service providers only as needed to run the Service. Each of them may only use it to provide their service to us.
- DigitalOcean: hosts our servers, database and photo storage, and runs the AI model that tags your items.
- Resend: sends our emails, such as sign-in codes. It receives your email address and the email content.
- Google Play (and the Apple App Store, when available): handles Pro payments. We never see your card or bank details.
- RevenueCat: manages Pro subscriptions. It receives your account number and your purchase history from the store, not your name or email.
- Sentry: receives crash reports and server error reports, as described in section 2.
We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect the safety or rights of users or the public, or if Mocknira is sold or restructured. In that last case, this policy will still apply to your information.
7. Where your data is stored
Our servers and database are run by DigitalOcean in a data centre in Bangalore, India. Your wardrobe photos are stored by DigitalOcean in a data centre in Singapore. Crash reports are stored by Sentry in the European Union. Our other service providers may process data in other countries, including the United States. We use providers that protect data with safeguards required by law.
8. How long we keep it
- Account details, wardrobe photos and wardrobe history: while your account exists.
- Items you delete: removed from your wardrobe straight away, and deleted from our servers, photos included, within 30 days.
- "Before you buy" photos: not kept at all.
- Sign-in codes: expire within minutes and are stored only in scrambled form.
- Crash reports and server logs: up to 90 days.
- Support emails: as long as needed to help you, then deleted.
- Launch emails: your email address is kept until we email you that the app is out on your phone, then deleted. Ask us at [email protected] to remove it sooner.
- Free trial record: a scrambled, one-way code made from your email address, with the dates of your trial, kept after you delete your account so the same address does not get a second trial. The code cannot be turned back into your email. Ask us at [email protected] and we will remove it.
When you delete your account, we delete your account details, wardrobe history and all your wardrobe photos. We keep only the free trial record described above. Copies may remain in our backups for up to 30 days before they are removed. We may keep some records longer if the law requires it, for example payment records.
9. Keeping your data safe
All data sent between the app and our servers is encrypted. Your photos are stored privately and are only shown to you through links that expire after a few hours. Sign-in codes are stored in scrambled form, and only a few people who run Mocknira can access the systems.
No system is completely secure. If a data breach affects your information, we will tell you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.
10. Your rights and choices
You can:
- See and change your account details in your profile
- Change or delete any item in your wardrobe
- Delete your account and all your photos in the app, under Profile, General, Delete account, or on our website at mocknira.com/delete-account
- Turn off camera or notification access in your phone's settings
- Ask us for a copy of your information, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing [email protected]
Deleting your account does not cancel a Pro subscription. Cancel it first in your app store's subscription settings.
We will reply to requests within 30 days. We may need to confirm the request comes from the email address on your account.
11. Users in India
We process your personal data under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023. We use it only for the purposes in this policy, with your consent, which you give by creating an account. You can withdraw your consent at any time by deleting your account. Under the Act you have the right to access, correct and erase your data, to nominate someone to act for you, and to have your complaints handled.
To raise a complaint, email our grievance contact at [email protected]. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may contact the Data Protection Board of India.
12. Users in the European Union and United Kingdom
If you live in the EU or UK, we process your data to provide the Service you signed up for (performance of a contract), and for crash reports and security, because we have a legitimate interest in keeping the Service working and safe. You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our use of your data, and to receive it in a portable format. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
13. Children
The Service is only for people aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you think someone under 18 has created an account, email [email protected] and we will delete it.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Service changes. When we make an important change, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect, and update the date at the top of this page.
15. Contact us
